
Katherine Kellert is an active freelance musician and private instructor in the Washington, D.C. area. She received her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance from Arizona State
University, where she studied with Robert Spring. Her teachers have included Robert Spring, Steven Cohen, Scott Bridges, and Sandra Garner-Mosteller. Currently she is the Principal
Clarinettist with the
Mantovani Orchestra and performs regularly with the
Coriolis Wind Quintet and at
Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Baltimore and Columbia, Maryland.
As a member of Washington, D.C.'s
Great Noise Ensemble, Ms. Kellert has participated in the premieres and performances of numerous new works for
chamber ensemble since its inaugural season. During the 2007-2008 season, she will be one of fifty clarinetists to present the world premiere of a new work for clarinet and piano by composer
Michael Finnissy, commissioned by the
Worldwide Concurrent Premieres and Commissioning Fund.
An accomplished chamber and orchestral musician, she has appeared in recitals and performances across the United States, as well as attended summer programs such as the National Orchestral Institute and the Brevard Music Center. She has performed with the Maryland Chamber Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony, New Dominion Chorale Orchestra, McLean Orchestra and National Cathedral Choral Society Orchestra, among others.

She maintains an active music studio of more than forty students throughout the year, many of whom have gone on to pursue successful careers in the arts and other distinguished fields. Her students perform in recitals and concerts throughout the year and have participated in many contests, honors bands and orchestras, and competitions.
